I am going to start interviewing normal people and pickup on the Legacy of Studs Terkel. Whom inspired me tonight with a feeling of validation that there is an example of what I aspire to be. Watching his story was like looking in a mirror and liking what I’m seeing. I have never felt a kinship or alignment of values, goals, outlook with anyone. Let alone a person I have never met.
The art of conversation has all but died in our current culture of unlimited possibilities and instant gratification. Coming to an understanding of others is being lost because of distraction and lack of curiosity. Don’t call, text. Don’t talk, post it on the internet or write a letter,so no one can interrupt or interject there presence in the situation. Which is why our society is in a tough place. One could see why so many individuals show signs of a feeling of isolation, it’s because we as humans are so spoiled by technology we are actually digressing in our genuine human interaction and drowning in our blessings.
